JOB TITLE: CLINICAL COORDINATOR

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
JOB FUNCTION: Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Clinical Coordinator is directly responsible for the implementation of clinical services including, but not limited to; chemical dependency, cognitive behavioral intervention, mental health and family counseling. Responsible for day-to-day management and supervision of clinical staff, caseloads, family services specialist, and the implementation of a program schedule, ensuring continuous quality improvement of clinical services. The Clinical Coordinator is expected to participate in activities which foster a safe and secure environment that is conducive to the goals and mission of the West Central Community Correctional Facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. ADMINISTRATIVE
- Assists the Program Director in an on-going analysis and development of clinical goals & objectives;
- Participates in supervisor, team/crew, and all-staff meetings as scheduled;
- Assures that facility policies & procedures are established and maintained in accordance with all applicable governing boards and federal, state & local authority;
- Acts as a spokesperson for the facility’s clinical services;
- Collects, prepares, submits timely monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
- Prepares documentation for ODADAS, DRC, and ACA accreditation audits;
- Serves as a liaison to other programs and facility component coordinators.
2. MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION OF STAFF
- Interviews and recommends hiring of new staff;
- Makes recommendations for clinical staff assignments so as to maximize efficient and effective use of time and talent, including assignments to specific group responsibilities;
- Schedules staff to ensure uninterrupted programming;
- Maintains communication with all clinical staff, meeting regularly;
- Mentors clinical staff, identifying strengths and limitations for appropriate staff development;
- Completes and submits timely employee job performance evaluations;
- Takes disciplinary action, as appropriate, to assure the program’s integrity.
3. PROGRAM OPERATIONS
- Reviews documentation on incoming residents during screening process and assigns them to a counselor;
- Plans, develops, coordinates treatment services schedule, including facilitating groups;
- Develops and reviews treatment plans for residents, ensuring that all residents move through phases of treatment in a deliberate, therapeutic manner;
- Serves as a liaison between clinical staff and other facility components, communicating regularly to coordinate program activities in facility;
- Reviews and makes recommendations about resident requests;
- Ensures that Phase Panels, other phase movements are occurring according to policy & procedure;
- Oversees the clinical value of any programming activity;
- Coordinates with operations staff;
- Monitors treatment records according to policy and accreditation standards;
- Ensures all assigned staff maintains strict confidentiality with respect to information obtained and processed in the operation of the facility.
4. FACILITY OPERATIONS
- Creates and maintains a working environment for effective communication among staff;
- Monitors residents and ensures that all operational policies and procedures are followed;
- Supplements facility coverage as needed for operational safety and security;
- Coordinates visitation, transportation, and other program scheduling with the operations staff;
- Utilizes audio-visual and computer equipment appropriately, on an as needed basis;
- Transports residents, as necessary.
5. COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL FUNCTIONS
- Each employee understands his/her role in using cognitive behavioral interventions and develops the necessary competencies to successfully function in the program.
6. PROGRAM EVALUATION
- Maintains accurate monthly statistics and progress reports from clinical teams;
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities relevant to clinical services.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Working knowledge of present and evolving clinical assessment & treatment services, including chemical dependency, cognitive behavioral therapy, mental health, family systems, and criminality;
- Working knowledge of Core Correctional Practices and cognitive behavioral interventions;
- Working knowledge of 12-Step recovery programs;
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate clinical services;
- Interpersonal communication skills required to engage and sustain working relationships with residents, residents’ families, staff, community resources and the general public;
- Knowledge of, and ability to implement, problem-solving principles and counseling techniques appropriate to a correctional environment;
- Ability to read and prepare reports, mastery of written communication;
- Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required;
- Bachelor of Science degree in related field; Master’s Degree in related field preferred;
- Licensure from the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board (LSW/LPC) or license from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professional Board (LCDC II, or III) required;
- Independent Licensure from the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board (LISW/LPCC) or LICDC from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board is preferred;
- Three years experience in the chemical dependency or correctional field;
- Ability to facilitate groups;
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related office software;
- Ability to supervise staff, making sound management decisions; staff supervision experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Potential exists for exposure to disease/illness;
- This is a minimum-security facility; therefore all outside access doors are locked at all times.
